May 26 (Renewables Now) – US wholesale power provider Guzman Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of a proposed 155-MW solar park in Colorado with developer Primergy Solar LLC.
The Hesperus solar project will be located on 1,500 acres (607 ha) of land in La Plata County on Colorado’s western slope. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. According to the announcement on Tuesday, it would represent the largest purchase of solar power in the state by a non-utility customer.
Guzman Energy chief executive Chris Riley said the deal supports the company’s plans to expand its energy supplies to cater to customer demand for “reliable, affordable, clean energy on the Colorado western slope and in New Mexico”.
The planned solar power facility is expected to generate enough electricity per year to power almost 56,000 homes.
